Glasgow Rangers got back to winning ways in their most recent clash at Ibrox.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Hearts at Ibrox Stadium on April 22, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Graeme Murty has told Rangers’ official website that he would suggest that three of his players particularly stood out during the Gers’ win over Hearts at the weekend: Graham Dorrans, Jamie Murphy and Daniel Candeias.

The Light Blues desperately needed to get a positive result from the game at Ibrox. They went into the contest off the back of their Scottish Cup semi-final humiliation and there is most definitely a battle on for second place in the Scottish Premiership, with Aberdeen and Hibernian within touching distance of Murty’s men.

But Rangers dealt with the pressure well, as goals from Jason Cummings and Candeias helped them on their way to a 2-1 win that gives them some much-needed momentum heading into this weekend’s trip to Celtic. And while reflecting on the game, Murty reserved particular praise for the trio.

“We can still be more incisive, better and more technical in our play, but I thought there were good bits from everyone on the pitch,” he told the club’s official website.

“A few people stood out – I thought Graham Dorrans played particularly well, Jamie Murphy at times was excellent and Daniel Candeias was back to being Daniel.”

“It was important for us to get back to some of the values we have that I thought we went away from – the intensity of the press, a bit of commitment and a bit of quality in possession.”

It was not the perfect performance from Rangers, but it was an important three points that will give them some belief and confidence that could provide a massive boost to their hopes of spoiling Celtic’s party on Sunday.

While there is next to no chance of the Hoops realistically squandering the title, Rangers need to look at the game as an opportunity to make a statement heading into the summer as well as an opportunity to potentially strengthen their grip on second place for this season.
