Glasgow Rangers moved back to second in the Scottish Premiership as they won 2-0 at Ibrox.
Graeme Murty has told Rangers’ official YouTube channel that Wes Foderingham’s performance during Rangers’ win on Wednesday night often left him shaking his head in bemusement, and suggested that the goalkeeper deserved the man of the match award.
The Gers moved themselves back to second in the Scottish Premiership as they claimed their third win of the campaign over Aberdeen as goals from Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier either side of half-time saw off Derek McInnes’ men at Ibrox.
The 2-0 scoreline perhaps does not provide an entirely fair reflection of the game as Foderingham was called into action on a number of occasions during the contest. And after the game, Murty could not praise the stopper high enough.
“I was shaking my head in bemusement at times,” he told the club’s official YouTube channel.
“The positioning, the reactions, the strength of his core, the way he works every day puts him in that condition to make those saves. You have to make them on big stages, and they don’t come much bigger than Ibrox at home against Aberdeen, and when called upon, I thought he was outstanding.
“Jason Holt got man of the match but I’m sure he might give him a sip or so of his drink because, as much as we owe all the guys a debt, I thought Wes in particular stood out from the rest.”
Foderingham has certainly established himself as one of the best performers, perhaps in any position, in the Scottish Premiership this season, arguably taking his game to the next level and rarely letting the Light Blues down.
And if Rangers are going to capitalise on their current position and ensure that they finish second and perhaps put some pressure on Celtic, then Foderingham maintaining his current form will surely be crucial. It appears however, that he will have no problem stepping up.
