Glasgow Rangers’ next generation take on Celtic in the Scottish Youth Cup final this week.
Rangers youth team manager Graeme Murty has been speaking to the club’s official television channel about the upcoming Scottish Youth Cup final against Celtic.
Murty has seen a number of Rangers youngsters come through the ranks and break into the first-team in recent seasons, and new first-team boss Pedro Caixinha looks set to keep that tradition alive.
The Portuguese is likely to be paying close attention to Rangers’ next generation this evening, but Murty has confirmed two players who will not be involved despite their hopes to the contrary.
“We’ve got a couple of guys out on loan who won’t actually be considered for this game,” Murty told Rangers TV.
“Ryan Hardie and Jordan Thompson, although they were bending my ear yesterday, they are not going to be considered because it’s more important in their long-term development that they play first-team football on Wednesday.”

Hardie and Thompson are both currently on loan at Raith Rovers and it has been decided that their development would be best served by making them available for the Scottish Championship match against Hibernian.
Next season should see both players push for a place in Rangers’ senior side but they will not take part in the club’s latest showpiece event.
