Glasgow Rangers got back to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership as they won 2-0 at Ibrox.

Rangers interim manager Graeme Murty is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and St Johnstone at Ibrox Stadium on December 16, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Graeme Murty has told Rangers’ official website that he told his players at half-time during their win over Motherwell that he wanted to see them be braver on the ball, and insisted that he thought that they were a lot better in the second-half.

The Gers went into the clash with Well looking to bounce back after two successive defeats and to get some momentum under their belts ahead of the weekend’s Old Firm clash – but it appeared for a while that it may be another frustrating night for the home side with Trevor Carson enjoying an excellent game in the visitors’ goal.

A general view of Ibrox Stadium is seen ahead of the EURO 2016 Qualifier match between Scotland and Georgia at Ibrox Stadium on October 11, 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Danny Wilson would break the deadlock for Rangers 11 minutes after the break with a stunning strike into the top corner, before Alfredo Morelos made the points safe 20 minutes later after a good piece of work from the striker.

And after the game, Murty shared what exactly he told his players at the interval after a somewhat frustrating first-half at Ibrox.

“We are progressing. I thought that we started really well and I thought that we moved the ball really quickly,” he told the club’s official website.

“Then we started to play their game a bit too much and were a bit too direct; making it about the physical stuff, rather the technical stuff.

“I said to the players at half time that they needed to be a bit braver on the ball. If a man is there and is tight, then still give them the ball as we need to shift them around.

“I thought that we did that a lot better in the second half. Taking chances and scoring goals makes a massive difference to the confidence of the team.”

It was not the perfect performance from Rangers, but it will certainly give them plenty of belief heading into the weekend’s clash with Celtic – and the fact that it was not a brilliant display may perhaps help the Gers.

If everything had clicked into place against Motherwell, perhaps Murty’s men may have gone to Parkhead slightly too confident, whereas now they will face their bitter rivals having picked up a confidence boost from the win but under absolutely no illusions that they will have to step their game up if they want to stun the Hoops.
