Rangers are set to complete a deal to bring Greg Docherty to Ibrox.
Rangers boss Graeme Murty has told the Glasgow Evening Times that Greg Docherty is heading to Ibrox – and he may not be the club’s final January signing.
The Gers were in action on Wednesday night, as they beat Aberdeen 2-0 at Ibrox thanks to goals from Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier, claiming an impressive win.
The attention immediately turned back to the January transfer window after the game, despite Rangers having already had a busy month to date.
Manager Murty has brought in Russell Martin, Sean Goss, Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings on loan from English clubs this month, as well as securing Declan John on a permanent basis.
However, Rangers have been working hard over the last week to secure a deal for Hamilton Academical ace Greg Docherty, initially failing with their first bid.
Now though, Docherty appears to be heading to Ibrox, with the Daily Record reporting that a fee of £650,000 has finally been agreed after talks between the two clubs.
Docherty, 21, has impressed for Hamilton this season, and already has more than 100 appearances for the Accies to his name after coming up through the ranks with the club.
After the final whistle against Aberdeen, Murty confirmed to the Glasgow Evening Times that midfielder Docherty is just another young, hungry player to add to the Rangers squad, and hinted that more incomings could be on the way before the deadline.
“It’s another bit of business for another young hungry player desperate to enhance our group,” said Murty. “When you saw the players gelling and the improvements we’ve made, it’s an exciting time for players – and for me as a manager.”
“I want to manage people who are hungry to improve. I don’t know if it will be the end of our business,” he added.
