Rangers development squad coach Graeme Murty has compared the club’s youngsters and facilities to those in England.

Murty, who was born in north Yorkshire but won four caps for Scotland, spent his entire playing career south of the border, at York City, Reading and Southampton.

The 41-year-old later coached at both the Saints and Norwich City before taking on his current role in August this year.

Having had two months to bed in at Auchenhowie, Murty is well-placed to compare Rangers’ set-up to that of his previous clubs, of whom three have appeared in England’s Premier League this decade.

And, during a Q & A session on the Ibrox side’s Youth Development Co’s Twitter account on Thursday, the former full-back delivered his feedback.

When asked how about the difference between Rangers’ youngsters and those down south, Murty replied:

He added:

On the facilities at Murray Park, he said:

Murty’s Under-20 side, which was heavily depleted by international call-ups, suffered a 4-0 defeat to Dundee United in their last outing.

His appointment was part of a recent overhaul of the club’s academy, which its director Craig Mulholland last month revealed will take up to five years to properly bear fruit.
