Glasgow Rangers player Ross McCrorie has been compared with Southampton ace James Ward-Prowse after his fine run of form for the Ibrox side.
Glasgow Rangers caretaker boss Graeme Murty has compared youngster Ross McCrorie with Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
The 19-year-old, who emerged from the club’s academy, has taken little time to adapt playing in the senior levels.
The youngster has shown maturity beyond years, and is considered as one of the brightest prospects in Scotland. Rangers have high hopes for him, and if he can fulfil his potential, he could be a great asset for the club.
He has been deployed mainly in defence, but against Aberdeen, he adopted more of a midfield role. Comfortable in hold-up play and making passes, he dropped down into the backline when required.
Murty has compared the youngster with Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse, who he watched blossom at St Mary’s when he was a coach there.
The 43-year-old says that he trusts the kid, and hails his mentality as “fantastic”. Murty believes that McCrorie has the potential to mature into a good player.
“I trust the kid. I trust his mentality, his ability and his learning to go and apply stuff at a high standard,” said Murty, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“Ross has grown up a Rangers fan and watched some fantastic teams. He wants to emulate those guys.
“He wants to live up to those values. He knows what it means to be a Rangers player, a Rangers fan and what the club means to him.
“He could mature into a good player over a long period of time. So I’m excited about what he can become. He has lots to learn but I’d compare him to Ward-Prowse in that he has a fantastic mindset.”
