Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers are in good form, but manager Graeme Murty does not envisage the Gers challenging for the Scottish Premiership title.
The Ibrox outfit are in great form at the moment and have won their last four league matches, including back-to-back wins against Aberdeen.
The Gers are second in the league table at the moment with 36 points from 18 matches, five points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic, who have a game in hand.
There have been suggestions that Rangers are back in the Scottish Premiership title race, but caretaker-manager Murty has dismissed that notion.
“It’s far, far too premature to be talking like that,” Murty told The Scottish Sun about a title challenge. “We have achieved absolutely nothing so far. Let’s just get our business taken care of — we have to get better than we have been.
“That’s exactly what I’ll be saying to the players. You always have to go out and earn everything this game gives you.
“Please don’t take second place for granted. We have got a lot of teams chasing us who want to put one over on us and rightly so.”
Rangers’ recent form has improved, and the five-point gap between themselves and Celtic is not exactly a great one.
True, the Bhoys have a game in hand, but it is not a guarantee that Brendan Rodgers’s side will win it.
The Scottish Premiership title is for Celtic’s to lose. The Glasgow giants have the best squad in Scotland and are also on a stunning unbeaten run.
What Rangers need to do is take one game at a time and try to consolidate the second spot in the table.
