Graeme Murty has told Rangers TV that new signing Jamie Murphy is already in the thick of the banter as his team-mate jovially mock his arrival.

The 28-year-old winger joined Rangers on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion this past week.

The terms of his arrival were something of a surprise, given how the Gers were expected to sign him on a permanent deal for around £1 million, according to The Daily Record.

Murphy, a former Scotland Under-21 international, has joined up with his new team-mates in Florida for the winter training camp.

And Murty claims that the Ibrox lads have been giving him a bit of stick.

The 43-year-old told Rangers TV: “Jamie has had the usual stick, as soon as you have a bad touch the boys are out screaming at him, ‘How much?’ and ‘Are you sure it’s a loan, have you got to try before you buy?’ All the classics.”

Beyond the banter, Murphy is a very capable player and the Ibrox side should definitely benefit from his presence when the domestic calendar resumes.
