Glasgow Rangers midfielder Carlos Pena could start for the Ibrox club against Aberdeen on Sunday.
Glasgow Rangers caretaker manager Graeme Murty has hinted that he could start Mexican midfielder Carlos Pena against Aberdeen on Sunday.
The interim boss has refused to reveal his tactical plans for the trip to Pittodrie. Murty’s side outfoxed Aberdeen in their last match as they won 3-0.
He included Carlos Pena in his line-up, and the Mexican repaid his faith with a goal. Murty said he could be willing to throw Pena again in the weekend.
Aberdeen will be looking to produce a strong performance at home, but Murty believes that there is no reason to see them as underdogs.
According to the Sunday Mail (printed edition; page 67), Rangers are bookies’ favourites for the rematch.
He expects a different challenge from the Dons, but says his players must show the edge on Sunday as they did in the midweek.
“Why not? He came into the side and scored on Wednesday. It’s up to me and the other players to recognise the talents we have and get the best out of them,” said Murty, as quoted by the Sunday Mail (printed edition; page 67).
“That position allows Carlos to bring his talent to the fore, to have a free role and get into the box.
“Lo and behold, he got his goal. But a lot of people sacrificed for Carlos to be able to do that.”
Rangers are fourth in the Scottish Premiership table with 27 points, but they could level points with a victory over the Dons.
