Graeme Murty says that Glasgow Rangers will hand Gers defender Ross McCrorie a new deal in order to keep him at Ibrox.

McCrorie’s current contract with Rangers runs out in May 2019, according to The Daily Record, and Murty has suggested that discussions over a new deal have begun.
Murty told The Daily Record: “I think that a new contract is being discussed behind the scenes and you will have to talk to the decision makers with that.
“But he appears happy, he appears settled and I don’t think there are many things he would want to walk away from this football club for.
“I think it would be for the benefit of all for those discussions to be brought to a close.”

McCrorie is one of the best young defenders in Scotland and has established himself as an important player in the Rangers team.
The 19-year-old is a defender by trade, but the Scotland Under-21 international has been successfully deployed in defensive midfield at times this season.
Handing the talented and promising young defender a new deal would be a great piece of business for Rangers.

The Gers are doing well in the league at the moment and are currently second in the Scottish Premiership table.
Rangers will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Hibernian away from home Easter Road in the Scottish Premiership. The Gers have won their last three league fixtures.
