Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are averaging close to four goals a game at the moment – but Graeme Murty says they can improve.

Graeme Murty has told Rangers TV that his Gers side can get even better.

Rangers maintained their red-hot form on Sunday by thumping Falkirk 4-1 at Ibrox to reach the semi-final of the Scottish Cup.

In doing so, Murty’s side made it six wins on the bounce and the Blues have now managed 23 goals during this purple patch, conceding only six.

But it wasn’t a perfect performance and the 43-year-old, who took over from Pedro Caixinha, knows that his troops will probably be punished in Sunday’s visit of Celtic if they repeat the same mistakes.

He told Rangers TV: “We switched off and allowed them to play and I know if we do that at the weekend [against Celtic] we won’t necessarily get away with what we got away with it yesterday.

“The reassuring thing for me is that we can get better. We’re about getting better and improving and I think there’s real areas to improve in.”

The prospect of Rangers getting better will surely delight fans of the Premiership side, who sit second in the table and six points behind the Hoops, who have a game in hand.

Winning on Sunday would confirm that there is a title race in Scotland’s top flight again, given that Brendan Rodgers’s side strolled to glory last season and looked set to do the same this time around, but a rocky couple of months has opened the door for Rangers to challenge and they certainly look capable of throwing a spanner in the works.
