Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers managed to sign Jamie Murphy from Brighton & Hove Albion in January.

Graeme Murty has told Glasgow Rangers’ official website that there is still a lot more to come from Jamie Murphy.

Murphy was brought to Ibrox from Brighton & Hove Albion last month, and the winger has been used regularly since arriving.

Murphy has started in six of Rangers’ last seven matches, but his only goals and assists have come against Ayr United in the table.

And Murty feels that Murphy is still recovering fitness, as he was barely used at Brighton.

“I think when you look at Jamie, he is starting to get fit,” Murty said. “He hasn’t played a lot of football, but we have thrown him in the pitch and got him in the team as we want to get minutes into his legs.

“We’ve seen his composure in possession and his quality in possession – he adds an attacking threat from the left-hand side that we haven’t necessarily had, but then also, he has added a goal, and then another goal, and then he joins in and links the play up really well.

“He’s not there yet and there is more to come from him, but I will say that for the team – this is still to come team where there is more to come. There is more structure and more ruthlessness and relentlessness to come.”

Murphy has shown flashes of quality at Rangers, and looks set to play an important role over the remainder of the campaign.

Even without Murphy fully firing, Rangers have been in impressive attacking form of late.

Rangers beat Hamilton 5-3 in their most recent outing, to move up to second place in the Scottish Premiership table.

Murty’s side are in action again at the weekend, when they take on Hearts.
