Glasgow Rangers pulled off the deadline day deal to bring Glenn Middleton to Ibrox.

Rangers enjoyed an incredibly productive January transfer window and rounded it off in the final hours by completing a move for the 18-year-old, with BBC Sport reporting that he had signed an 18-month deal at Ibrox and would be working with their under-23 side.

And Murty has insisted that he was shocked to learn that a potential move may be possible, and suggested that he has extremely high hopes for the promising winger, confirming that he has already trained with the first-team.
“I got straight on the phone to Craig Mulholland and we made it happen. He’s desperate to be here, he’s a passionate Rangers fan and he ticks lots of boxes.

“He’s a pacy, left-footed player who can beat people and finish. The platform is now here for him to go and accelerate. I’ve said to all of the young players that if they’re good enough they can push into the first team and see what it’s like to be a Rangers player.
“Glenn trained with the first team on Thursday. Physically, he’s very adept but he needs to get used to his surroundings and how we play.”
Given Murty’s background in working with young players and his willingness to give them a chance in the first-team, it would certainly be no surprise if the Ibrox faithful got the chance to see the teenager in action before the season reaches its conclusion.
With the youngster currently signed to a relatively short deal, Murty may want to try and give him his chance as soon as he is ready, to really have a closer look as to how he copes with the demands of senior football, and the pressure that comes with playing for a club of Rangers’ stature.
But it certainly appears that the Gers boss is more than confident that Middleton has the potential required to shine on the big stage and make the deal seem like a huge coup for the Scottish Premiership side.
