Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers managed to win 3-2 against St. Johnstone last night.
Graeme Murty has admitted to Rangers’ official website that he ‘caned’ Emerson Hyndman for not scoring earlier for his side against St. Johnstone last night.
Rangers ran out 3-2 winners over the Saints at Ibrox, with Hyndman scoring a last minute winner to give the Glasgow side a vital three points.
However, Murty wished the Bournemouth loanee had scored earlier, as it would have been much better for his nerves.
“I thought Emerson Hyndman was great again and he fully deserved his goal,” Murty said.
“I caned him when he came in because I thought he should have scored earlier!
“He is a talented kid, he moves really well with the ball and he is a massive threat in the attacking half.”
Rangers had looked to be on their way to a comfortable victory over St. Johnstone, when they went 2-0 up.
However, the visitors pulled one back through David Wotherspoon and then Rob Kiernan was sent off for Murty’s side.
With Rangers facing a numerical disadvantage, the Ibrox crowd’s nerves were obvious, and St. Johnstone capitalised by netting an equaliser in the 87th minute.
At that stage it appeared that the Light Blues were set for yet another disappointing result, but Hyndman’s late winner was greeted with relief from all around Ibrox.
Rangers have now closed the gap on second placed Aberdeen, with their next fixture coming against Hamilton.
