West Bromwich Albion were heavily linked with Blackburn Rovers ace Bradley Dack.
Luton Town manager Graeme Jones has confirmed West Bromwich Albion tried to sign Blackburn Rovers ace Bradley Dack during his spell as assistant at the Hawthorns, Dunstable Today report.
“Me and Darren (Moore) at West Brom put an offer in for Dack, so we recognised his qualities. There’s very few with that natural ability who plays the 10 as well as he does, but it’s not just him,” Graeme explained.
“(Stewart) Downing’s got great Premier League experience, (Sam) Gallagher they signed for, I don’t know how much, they’ve got lots of threats.”
Luton manager Jones was previewing his side’s trip to Blackburn this weekend.
Jones took over the Luton hot-seat after Nathan Jones left the Hatters for Stoke City last season. The current Luton boss was previously assistant boss to Darren Moore at West Brom.
A report in The Sun cited West Brom’s interest in Dack during the summer of 2018. They reportedly had bids turned down for the attacker, and they followed up their interest in January to no avail.
Dack arrived at Blackburn for a bargain £750,000 fee from Gillingham. He is without doubt Tony Mowbray’s best signing during his time at Ewood Park following his success in Lancashire.
The 25-year-old scored 18 goals as he helped Blackburn to promotion from League One in 2017-18. His success attracted heavy interest from the Baggies, but his reported £20 million price-tag fended them off.
Dack went on to score another 15 goals last season in the Championship. Similar success this term will surely see him move up to the Premier League within the next 12 months.
