Speaking on Match of the Day Extra, Patrick Bamford has delivered an update on his injury situation.

Bamford has been out for quite some time now with an ankle problem and it’s fair to say he’s annoyed about this prolonged period on the sidelines.

Marcelo Bielsa confirmed in his press conference earlier this week that this is a complicated injury and that he can’t give a date on when Bamford will be able to return.

As you can imagine, the striker is frustrated by his current situation.

What’s been said?

Bamford gave an update on his injury.

“It is, day by day. It’s just taking a little bit longer than I first thought. I think the thing that has got under my skin a little bit this time is that I anticipated I would be back in four weeks and the fact that it has taken longer than that is a little bit hard to get my head around,” Bamford said.

“But now I am seeing improvements.”

Ignite the fire

Sometimes anger and frustration can be a good thing for a footballer.

Bamford’s time on the sidelines won’t have been enjoyable, but surely when he comes back he’ll be more fired up and raring to go than he ever has been.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder and that saying also applies to footballers who aren’t allowed to play the beautiful game.

Let’s hope that the £35,000-a-week striker is able to hit the ground running upon his return, whenever that may be.
