Raheem Sterling has posted on his Instagram story to Bukayo Saka ‘gotta be quicker than that’, as the caption was accompanied by the Arsenal man trying to chase the Manchester City player in training.

Both Sterling and Saka are known for their pace, but judging by the still image the Man City forward posted on his socials, the Arsenal youngster was just an arm’s length behind him.

It seems as though the England players, who take on Poland on Wednesday evening, were playing a game of tig-tag in training and Sterling being that little quick for the 20-year-old.

Gareth Southgate has built a strong bond with the England players at St George’s Park, as there doesn’t seem to be any issues or club rivalry seeping its way onto the international.

That’s probably a big reason as to why the Three Lions reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia, the semi-finals of the UEFA Nations League and the final of Euro 2020 this summer.

England may not have got over that dotted line yet, but compared to recent years, this crop of youngsters and senior stars are thriving like not many before them.

Sterling and Saka have been at the heart of that, as was proven at Euro 2020, especially with the Man City forward perhaps being one of the players of the tournament.

But whilst Southgate tries to move on from their penalty shootout heartache in the summer, their attention is now all on the World Cup in Qatar next November.

This usually isn’t an issue for England, in terms of qualifying, but they face one of their biggest tests tonight.

Led by perhaps the best number nine in the world, Harry Kane would want to say something about that, Robert Lewandowski will be hoping to cause an upset for his Poland side.

There’s no doubt that Sterling will start in the front three, it’s just a case of whether Saka will get the nod also.
