Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Alan Shearer has been full of praise for Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin.
The Frenchman has been one of the Magpies’ most important players this season, scoring some vital goals and putting in some incredible performances for the Tyneside outfit.
Barring a remarkable turn of events, it seems as though Newcastle will be safe in the Premier League, and Saint-Maximin has played a massive part in that.
Shearer clearly rates the player, claiming he has bags of potential.
“Finally, we’re looking at Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin, despite a tough time contracting covid and a lengthy recovery, Saint-Maximin continues to impress. He’s fast, he’s skilful, he’s strong and not afraid to take other players on, with the most dribbles per 90 of any Newcastle player this season, and up there in that regard with the Premier League’s best,” Shearer said.
“He can pick out a pass, but he’s also got the ability to blow a game wide open with a moment of brilliance, just look at his goal against Burnley at the start of the season.
“The fans can see he’s got bags of potential and he can get people out of their seats, but he’s still got to work on his end product if he can take his game to the next level.”

The Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer certainly knows what he’s talking about when it comes to end product.
Saint-Maximin has all the attributes you could possibly want in a footballer, but it has to be said, at times he does lack the necessary composure in front of goal.
If he can improve that aspect of his game, as Shearer says, he could be up there with the league’s best.
