Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has been discussing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s brilliant form since joining Barcelona on a free transfer from Arsenal.

The Gabonese forward looks completely reinvigorated in Catalonia, the striker has netted five goals in just six games for La Blaugrana, and he looks a far cry from the player we saw towards the end of his time at Arsenal.

Indeed, Aubameyang netted just 14 league goals in his last season and a half at the Emirates, but now, it looks as though he’s returning to the form that saw him win a Premier League Golden Boot in 2018/19.

Ferdinand has noticed a distinct difference in Aubameyang in that he appears to look much happier at Camp Nou.

What’s been said?

Ferdinand gave his verdict on Aubameyang.

“I just feel that he looks happy again. I saw him at Arsenal for a number of months where he just didn’t look happy, and people undervalue how important your happiness is as a footballer or in any job that you’ve got. You have to have that element of happiness and enjoyment and fulfilment, and he wasn’t having that at Arsenal,” Ferdinand said.

“Aubameyang has gained, he’s got some love back, he’s got some attention and he’s got some belief back from a manager that wants him to be there and appreciates his footballing ability.”

Reborn

Aubameyang looks completely reborn at Barcelona, and it looks as though this move was exactly what he needed.

We don’t know for sure what happened between Aubameyang and Arteta, but it’s clear to see that the pair weren’t getting on for quite some time.

Fortunately, it looks as though the striker is on better terms with Xavi, and now his career is well and truly back on track.

Fingers crossed Aubameyang can keep this form up.
