Steve McManaman has admitted Aaron Ramsdale has him ‘panicking’ during Arsenal’s visit of Manchester United.
Arsenal are leading the Red Devils 2-1 at half time.
Goals from Nuno Tavares and a Bukayo Saka penalty had the Gunners cruising, but Cristiano Ronaldo halved the deficit immediately after the latter made it 2-0.
Ramsdale has been one of the North Londoners’ best players this season, following a £30 million summer move.
But the former Sheffield United goalkeeper has looked shaky today and if not for a stunning block from Gabriel, Bruno Fernandes would’ve made it 1-1 earlier in the half.
Here’s what McManaman said live on BT Sport today: “He’s even got me panicking & I don’t even support Arsenal!”
Ramsdale needs to be careful – very careful.
Ronaldo’s goal out of nowhere is a massive reminder that Arsenal can’t take stupid chances because the Red Devils have the inclination and the personnel to punish them.
Fernandes very nearly had Ramsdale kicking himself after trying to be a bit too cute with his distribution and in the second half he needs to be a lot more assured.
Remember, victory from Arsenal would take Mikel Arteta’s side into the top four of the Premier League with six matches left.
There’s too much at stake for gambles and Ramsdale needs to remember that.
