According to Alan Nixon, via his Patreon, Tottenham Hotspur have made an opening offer for Manchester United’s James Garner.

Spurs are apparently very keen on the young midfielder, and if the 21-year-old were to come to north London, Antonio Conte would be reuniting a duo that ripped up the Championship last season.

Indeed, Garner spent last season on loan at Nottingham Forest where he struck up quite the relationship with Djed Spence.

The pair were brilliant together at the City Ground, and it’s fair to say they enjoyed sharing the pitch.

In fact, Garner has previously said that Spence is a dream to play with.

What’s been said?

Garner spoke about Spence earlier this summer after an England U21 game against Slovenia.

“He has been excellent this season. He is a dream to play with. He’s so fast and very good 1v1 going forward and defending,” Garner said.

“He’s got it all as a full-back or wing-back where ever he plays. The future looks very bright for him.”

Bright future

Tottenham could have a very bright future if they reunite Spence and Garner.

Yes, these two may not be ready to play in a team looking to compete for top honours just yet, but at the age of just 21, they can both improve so much in the future.

They showed last season that they work well together and their talents were there for all to see during their time at Forest.

Factor in that Spurs also have the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Ryan Sessegnon and Oliver Skipp on the books and it’s fair to say that the future is looking very bright in north London.
