Speaking on The Overlap, Alan Shearer has named Jurgen Klopp as the manager he wishes he could have worked under.

Shearer worked under some great managers in his career. The likes of Bobby Robson, Glenn Hoddle and Kenny Dalglish were all fantastic coaches at club and international level, but if Shearer could work under any gaffer it would be Klopp.

The Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer says the number of chances Liverpool create would appeal to him and that he also loves the manager’s attitude.

What’s been said?

Shearer was speaking with Gary Neville.

“The manager you’d most liked to have worked under? You can’t say Sir Alex Ferguson because you turned him down twice!” Neville said.

“I know, he reminded me a month ago when I saw him. When you look at Liverpool and City now and the chances that those two teams create. So I’ll go with Jurgen Klopp I suppose, I think he’s got a great attitude,” Shearer replied.

Would he fit the system?

Shearer says that he’d love to play under Klopp, but would Klopp love to have Shearer?

The main sources of goals in this Liverpool team are the wingers, while the centre-forward is usually a false nine who is more focused on creating chances.

Shearer was a classic number nine, his aerial ability and finishing instinct were his biggest weapons, not his flair or creative play.

We’re sure that Klopp would have found a way to accommodate a player as talented as Shearer, but, in our view, the Newcastle legend wouldn’t really fit the German’s style.
