Gordon Young has told The Glasgow Evening Times that Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers and Celtic have been chasing David Turnbull for years.

Celtic recently announced on their official Twitter page that they have agreed a fee with Motherwell, which is reported to be £3 million by The Glasgow Evening Times.

However, the Hoops have been unable to come to an agreement with the midfielder’s agent over wages, the Glasgow giants have announced.

Former head of Motherwell’s youth academy, Young, has revealed that Rangers and Celtic have been trying to secure the services of Turnbull for years.

Young told The Glasgow Evening Times: “Because David’s had a nice upbringing and his family were grounded, they backed me every year when Rangers and Celtic came in, which was on an annual basis.”

Good signing for Celtic?

Turnbull is a very talented and promising young midfielder who will be a good signing for Celtic, not just for next season, but for years to come.

Of course, the Scotland Under-21 international will have to earn his place in the Celtic starting lineup and will have to compete with some of the best players in the Scottish Premiership, but he certainly has the talent and the potential to make it big at Celtic Park.
