Former Southampton striker Gordon Watson is hoping the Saints can take Paris Saint-Germain winger Moussa Diaby on loan for the season.

Diaby starred in France Under-19s’ 5-0 win against their English counterparts on Monday, which is presumably where he caught the eye of Watson, who posted the following tweet on Tuesday:

The 19-year-old wasn’t on target himself, but did set up two of his side’s goals to send the Three Lions youngsters crashing of this year’s U19 European Championship in Finland.

It remains to be seen whether Diaby will be rewarded with a place in PSG’s first team plans, however, with only two senior appearances to his name – both of which arrived while on loan to Crotone in Italy’s Serie A last season.

Southampton, meanwhile, have been linked once again with a move for Hamburg winger Filip Kostic, although the Daily Mirror reports (July 24th, page 49) the Saints must sell before they can bring in the Serbian.

And signing Diaby on loan instead could be a way to circumvent that particular issue.

Should Southampton try for Diaby on loan?
