Former Scotland national football team manager Gordon Strachan has spoken highly of Celtic midfielder Scott Brown to The Daily Record.

“Broony’s great, he gives us a lot,” Strachan told The Daily Record. “Whatever you think about him, he’s improved immensely.

“He adds so much to the game for we people who watch the game. There are not many people who can get tackled, have the ball booted off his head and then get up and celebrate.”

Quality midfielder

Brown is one of the best midfielders in the Scottish Premiership and remains a key figure at Celtic despite being 32 years of age.

The former Scotland international is a very combative player who does not shy away from going into challenges.

There have been injury and fitness concerns over the former Hibernian star, but he is now fully fit and playing regularly.

Brown is also good on the ball and can pass well, and he has improved over the past two couple of years as well.

The 32-year-old has featured in 29 Scottish Premiership matches for Celtic so far this season, providing three assists in the process, according to Transfermarkt.com.

The midfielder has been on the books of Celtic since the summer of 2007 when he joined from Hibernian for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £4.4 million.
