The Scotland manager says there was an energy gap between the two sides in the Old Firm derby.

Scotland manager Gordon Strachan has told Sky Sports that an energy gap was the cause of Celtic’s comprehensive victory over Rangers.
The two sides met at Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon in the first Old Firm derby of the season.
There was much anticipation about the game given that it was the first time they had met in the league in four years.
It proved to be a happy day for Brendan Rodgers’ side as they ran out as comfortable 5-1 winners in the game, with a hat-trick from Mousa Dembele the highlight.

The difference between the two sides was tangible but Strachan says the main factor was the energy gap.
“There was an energy gap,” he told Sky Sports.
“The energy kind of spooked them [Rangers]. On top of that, the ability that Celtic have got was just too much for them.”

Celtic will now be hoping to show the same kind of energy when they take on Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek.
While the La Liga giants are obviously a much better team than Rangers, this was the perfect manner in which to prepare for such an important game.
Indeed, if Rodgers’ side can show the kind of energy that they showed in this win, they will provide a tough test for the Spanish giants.
