Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor was in action for Scotland on Monday.
Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor
Strachan made the comments following Rangers goalkeeper McGregor’s performance for Scotland against Albania on Monday evening.
The 36-year-old goalkeeper, who returned to Ibrox club Rangers in the summer transfer window, featured for Scotland in their UEFA Nations League Group C1 match against Albania at Hampden Park in Glasgow.
The former Besiktas and Hull City star played well, and ex-Celtic and Scotland international manager Strachan was impressed.
While praising McGregor, Strachan said on Sky Sports Main Event on Monday evening (9:52pm, September 10, 2018): “I think that’s his speciality. He is good all-round, but I think that’s one of his big things – one-for-one. Allan doesn’t go early.”

Edging ahead of Craig Gordon
Craig Gordon played for Scotland against Belgium last week, but the Celtic goalkeeper did not have a good game and made a mistake.
McGregor’s performance against Albania was very impressive, and perhaps the Rangers goalkeeper has edged ahead of Gordon in terms of taking the number one shirt for Scotland.
Both Gordon and McGregor will be aiming to be the best goalkeeper in the Scottish Premiership this season.
