Tottenham Hotspur have had an excellent season, even if they did not end up winning any silverware.

Mauricio Pochettino has turned Spurs into genuine title contenders and fans of the club are very grateful for the work the Argentinian has done at White Hart Lane.

He has installed an incredible work-ethic at the North London club, spearheaded by excellent young players and an insatiable attitude for the game.

One man who is a fan of what he has done is Gordon Strachan. The Scotland manager has to face many of the Spurs team when takes on England soon and believes Pochettino has given the Tottenham team a nasty streak they needed. He told the Herald Scotland:

“You have to be fit. Pochettino got rid of the older guys [at Tottenham Hotspur] who would maybe stand around, and look at them now. They run all over place. He wanted them angry.”

Their brilliant form was helped by the excellent performances of Dele Alli, who scored 23 goals in the 2016-17 season.

The England international is one such player with the angry streak Strachan speaks of and ahead of facing him on international duty the former Celtic boss had this to say about the Tottenham talent:

“He is the perfect number 10.

“You have to have the ability to run beyond the striker, and he’s perfect for that now. He can play between the lines and if you’re pushing up he’ll run in behind you. He gives you all sorts of problems.”

Spurs fans no doubt will notice that this Tottenham side is made of stronger stuff than those of the past. England fans will hope the Tottenham players in question can help them to victory over Scotland.
