Leeds United defender Liam Cooper has been called up to the Scotland national football team.

Strachan has included Cooper in his Scotland squad for matches against Slovakia and Slovenia next month.
The defender has been in great form for Leeds so far this season, as the Whites are at the top of the Championship table at the moment.
The 26-year-old, who can operate as a central defender or as a left-back, has established himself as a key figure at the back for the West Yorkshire outfit.
Scotland head coach Strachan, who played as a midfielder for Leeds and managed Southampton in the Premier League, has praised Cooper.

“He’s playing regularly every week,” Strachan told The Glasgow Evening Times about Cooper. “Last year he was in and out. And I think, for the bigger lads, it’s imperative that they play regularly.
“You find that in pre-season, the smaller guys get fit quicker, their movement is better while the bigger guys take a while.
“Liam is now playing every week and he’s the captain now. I think the only negative result they’ve had is when he wasn’t playing, so that shows you his influence on the team. He’s a good passer of the ball and he’s learning the game all the time.”

Cooper is a very good defender who has progressed well during his time at Leeds so far.
The former Hull City and Chesterfield centre-back will be an asset for Scotland in their two matches against Slovakia and Slovenia.
Leeds will take on Cardiff City away from home at the Cardiff City Stadium in the Championship this evening.
