Gordon Strachan outlines what Leeds United need to get promoted

Leeds United are having a disappointing season in the Championship.

Gordon Strachan has told Sky Sports that Leeds United need a lot of investment in order to get promoted to the Premier League.

Leeds have not featured in the Premier League since 2004 and have become also-rans in the Championship in recent years.

The West Yorkshire outfit narrowly missed out on a playoff spot last season, but they could end up in the bottom half of the table this campaign.

The Whites have some of the best fans in England, with their home ground, Elland Road, often getting 30,000 fans for matches.

Former Leeds midfielder Strachan has said that the Whites need money and investment to get back into the top flight of English football.

Strachan told Sky Sports when asked what Leeds need to challenge for promotion to the Premier League: “Lots of money. Somebody with real cash. That’s what we are after.”

Simple but hard

Wolverhampton Wanderers are a prime example of how effective but strong investment can get a club promoted from the Championship.

Leeds should be looking to follow that example, although it will be hard for the Whites due to finances available to them and FFP rules.

The Whites also need to have a proven and good manager in charge, with Paul Heckingbottom struggling for results and positive performances at the moment.
