Leigh Griffiths has been at Celtic since January 2014.

Gordon Strachan has suggested in PaddyPower that Leigh Griffiths should be starting regularly for Celtic.

The former Celtic and Scotland national team manager has also praised Griffiths’s finishing ability.

Strachan wrote in PaddyPower: “I heard Kris Boyd talking about having a main striker and thought ‘good point’. Unless you’ve got a Messi or Aguero, you have to have a pivotal striker, a main man.

“Unless you play with Griffiths up there, with the other five firing on all cylinders, at the top of their games, creating chances for him – which he will finish.”

Leigh Griffiths over Odsonne Edouard?

Celtic signed Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window after the French forward spent the 2017-18 campaign on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 20-year-old forward is struggling for form at the moment, while Griffiths is finding the target quite regularly.

With Moussa Dembele having left the Hoops in the summer transfer window, the 28-year-old is clearly the best striker at Celtic.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers needs to start the Scotland international – who has been on the books of the Glasgow giants since January 2014 when he joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £1 million – regularly for the time being, as he is in form and is determined to deliver the goods.
