Celtic named Brendan Rdogers as Ronny Deila’s replacement last week.
Gordon Strachan has told the Belfast Telegraph that Celtic have made a good appointment by putting Brendan Rodgers in charge.
Rodgers was announced as the man to take over from Ronny Deila at Celtic last week, and his arrival has sparked great excitement around Parkhead.
Scotland boss Strachan believes that Rodgers will be an excellent addition for the Bhoys, and he has told the Northern Irish manager to enjoy his time in charge of the Glasgow giants.
“Enjoy it. It’s a fantastic place to work,” he said, when asked whether he had any words of wisdom to offer Rodgers. “I think it’s going to be a right good season next year and I’m looking forward to it.
“I’ve not got a time machine, but what I am saying is that it is a good appointment. A great appointment.”
Strachan was at the helm at Celtic between 2005 and 2009, and he delivered a good level of success – securing three Scottish Premiership titles.
Rodgers will also be expected to lead Celtic to domestic silverware, but his task extends beyond just dominating Scotland.
Celtic fans are desperate for a European run, after being starved of success in the Champions League and the Europa League during Deila’s time in charge.
Rodgers first mission will be to guide Celtic through qualification for the Champions League, and he will then be looking to deliver their sixth Scottish Premiership title in succession.
