Celtic extended their lead over Rangers in the Scottish Premiership following the weekend results.

Gordon Strachan has stated that draws aren’t ‘any use’ to Rangers now as they battle with Celtic in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.
Before the weekend fixtures, the Light Blues had a chance of potentially closing the gap on leaders Celtic to two points, but instead, they recorded a home draw against St Johnstone and their rivals netted a last-minute winner against Kilmarnock.
As a result, the gap between the duo is now eight points and Steven Gerrard and his team now have a big task ahead of them in closing that gap in these final few months of the season.
Speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show on 18/02/2019, Strachan sent a stern message to Rangers about their title race with their bitter rivals.
“On Friday everyone is thinking ‘yes, we could catch up to three’ but it has spun around the other way to eight,” Strachan told talkSPORT.
“It’s a physical and mental body blow to the teams challenging. They have to win [the Old firm match]. You just have to win. It doesn’t matter how you do it. A draw isn’t any use to Rangers at this point. Strange things can happen.”

The Gers will travel to Celtic at the end of March as they will be fully aware that defeat in their rival’s backyard will all but end their chances of lifting the Premiership title.
Striker Alfredo Morelos, who has been absent through suspension in these last two matches, will play a big part in how Rangers season ends.
If he can stay away from the referee’s book then there is no doubt that he will continue his goalscoring form and provide his team with the best chance of finishing the campaign on a high.
But Brendan Rodgers will have his eye on the lifting more silverware with the Bhoys as they will be looking to continue their dominance in Scotland’s top-flight.
