Former Rangers star Gordon Smith has mocked Celtic midfielder Scott Brown for his recent comments about Ross County defender Andrew Davies.

Smith, who played for Rangers from 1977 until 1980, has said that he is surprised at Brown’s reaction to the punishment given to Davies for his challenge on the Celtic star.
Davies was sent off during the Scottish Premiership game between the Hoops and County at Celtic Park last month for his challenge on Brown.
The 32-year-old former Scotland international midfielder has since said that he would have expected the 33-year-old defender to have been given more than a two-match ban, as quoted by BBC Sport.
Former Rangers star Smith has mocked Brown for his reaction, reminding him of his challenge on Liam Boyce when the current Burton Albion striker was at County.

Smith wrote in The Sunday Post: “I had to laugh, though, at Brown’s reaction to news of the suspension. Not the bit where he said that stamping on opponents when the ball is nowhere near is not the action of a hard man. That’s fair comment.
“Rather, his claim that had he been the player who committed the foul and not the victim, he would have been banned for five or six games. He must have a short memory.
“This time last year, Brown was himself sent off for a wild challenge on, yes, a Ross County player. He sent Liam Boyce flying up in the air with a very bad challenge. Not perhaps as shocking as what Davies did, but poor nevertheless.”

Important player
Brown is one of the best and most combative midfielders in the Scottish Premiership and is a key figure in the current Celtic team.
The 32-year-old has been on the books of Celtic since the summer of 2007 when he joined from Hibernian for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £4.4 million.
The midfielder will be looking to have a good game for Celtic when they take on Old Firm rivals Rangers at Hampden Park in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup this coming weekend.
