Former Rangers star Gordon Dalziel has slated reported Ibrox target Graeme Shinnie for his performance on Thursday.

Scotland were thumped 3-0 away to Kazakhstan in a Euro 2020 qualifier.

The Aberdeen ace, deputising for Kieran Tierney and Andy Robertson at left-back, was particularly poor in the same week as links to Rangers cropped up [The Scottish Sun].

“I’m not a Shinnie fan. I do not know what he brings to football and Scottish football,” Dalziel told Clyde Superscoreboard.

“He was dreadful at left-back. Yes, he can have that little bit of an excuse that he plays midfield with Aberdeen.

“But he started at left back and he knows how to play the role. The two full-backs were absolutely dreadful.”

It was a horrendous team display but Dalziel is right, the reported Gers target struggled.

That being said, it probably won’t have any bearing on Steven Gerrard’s desire to bring him to Glasgow.

Shinnie is a midfielder by trade, so a trying night at left-back won’t exactly dissuade Gerrard or anyone else from making a move this summer.
