Gordon Dalziel has criticized Pedro Caixinha after Rangers’ shock Europa League exit.

Former Rangers striker, Gordon Dalziel, has criticized Pedro Caixinha, saying he isn’t convinced with the Portuguese’s managerial style.

Rangers were knocked out of the Europa League after they lost 2-0 against Luxembourg makeweights Progres Niederkorn.

Dalziel said that the result was the worst ever for any Scottish club in Europe, and didn’t mince his words to let know what he feels about Caixinha.

The 55-year-old insists that he was never a fan of Caixinha, and the Europa results has all but confirmed that he wasn’t a smart pick to replace Mark Warburton.

“I predicted from day one that Pedro wouldn’t be a good appointment and sadly it’s looking to be the case. He just isn’t for me,” said Dalziel, as quoted by the Daily Record.

While it is too early to judge a manager, especially when he has made a wholesome change to his squad, Dalziel says that he felt the Portuguese is tactically naïve.

“Everyone will say it’s too early to judge the man but I watched Rangers last season from the stands and tactically I felt he was naive.

“When he faced Celtic at Ibrox, he lined up in a diamond formation just days after he saw Graeme Murty do well by playing five at the back and getting a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park.

The former Manchester City striker adds that the defeat is a massive blow and ‘seriously damaging’ for the club. It also puts his future in doubt as Rangers hierarchy will probably feel whether they have put the faith in the right person.

“I don’t know how any manager can get away with that. It’s a massive blow, seriously damaging for the club and the Rangers board will be asking if they’ve put the team into the hands of the right person.”
