Google now autocorrects ‘Jalen Brunson’ to well-earned nickname after Knicks NBA Finals heroics

Jalen Brunson has earned a new nickname following his incredible performance in the 2026 NBA Playoffs.

Brunson led the New York Knicks to their first championship in 53 years and even won the Finals MVP award.

The point guard averaged 32.6 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game in five games against the San Antonio Spurs.

Brunson is now unquestionably one of the best players in the world and deserves a cool nickname to match.

Google has now started autocorrecting Brunson’s name to something else after his legendary playoff run.

The internet has a new name for Jalen Brunson

Knicks fans have been calling Jalen Brunson ‘Captain Clutch’ for a while, as he has consistently delivered in big moments.

Brunson even received the Clutch Player of the Year award for the 2024/25 season.

The 29-year-old was also amazing in the final minutes of games throughout the Knicks’ 2026 postseason run.

Google has now decided that Brunson deserves to be more widely recognised as ‘Captain Clutch’.

If you search for Brunson’s name on Google, the following prompt will appear: “Did you mean: Captain Clutch Brunson?”

It remains to be seen how long Google’s gesture will last, but it is certainly a unique feat that Brunson should be proud of.

‘Captain Clutch’ appears to have joined the long list of iconic NBA player nicknames.

‘Magic’ (Earvin Johnson), ‘The Logo’ (Jerry West), and ‘Black Mamba’ (Kobe Bryant) are among the greatest of all time.

Meanwhile, ‘The King’ (LeBron James), ‘The Joker’ (Nikola Jokic), and ‘The Greek Freak’ (Giannis Antetokounmpo) are three modern favourites.
