Darren Bent says Fulham would be making a ‘good signing’ if they were to secure the services of Arsenal defender Cedric Soares during the January transfer window, as he told talkSPORT (25/01/23).

The 31-year-old is behind Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu in the right-back pecking order, so from that perspective, it’s right for Cedric to leave Arsenal.

Yes, Mikel Arteta’s side are pushing for the Premier League title and he might want to still play his part in that because every little helps, at the end of the day.

Cedric joined the north London club on an initial loan deal from Southampton, before making that move permanent when his contract expired at St Mary’s.

During that time, he has mainly played a bit-part role for the club, so it’s no surprise he could be heading for European-chasing, Fulham.

Nonetheless, upon hearing of Cedric’s possible exit, former Premier League striker, and boyhood Arsenal fan Bent, issued the following response.

“It’s a good signing (for Fulham),” said Bent. “It’s best for all parties. 100%.”

ARSENAL’S MEAN DEFENCE

Not many would have predicted it at the start of the campaign, but Ben White’s performances this season have played a part in Cedric leaving.

Before, he was only hunting down Takehiro Tomiyasu for minutes on the pitch, but now White, transferred from centre-back after the arrival of William Saliba, has made that role his own.

He might have had an up-and-down time during Arsenal’s win against Manchester United, but other than that, he has been outstanding for this forever-thriving and mean Arsenal defence.
