Dean Saunders has said on talkSPORT that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal should make a bid for Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the summer transfer window.
The former Liverpool striker believes that Toney would be a good signing for Arsenal.
The Gunners are on the hunt for a new striker in the summer transfer window, with Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez and Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City linked.
90min reported in April that Arsenal are among the clubs who admire Toney.
Saunders said on talkSPORT, as transcribed by The Express: “If I was Arsenal, I’d sign Toney from Brentford. I would sign him from Brentford, sorry Brentford fans.
“He’s got rid of [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, I think he did the right thing for the sake of the dressing room. He was undermining him every day and he’s trying to build a club, young players, great players.
“I think Arteta’s on the right track. He would be a good signing. There are a few options and one of them is Ivan Toney. I would sign him if I was Arteta.”

We do not think that Arsenal should pay that kind of money for the 26-year-old English striker.
Yes, Toney has done well for Brentford, but he is not ‘elite’.
Not yet anyway.
Toney has scored 12 goals in 35 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
Arsenal will play in the Europa League and will compete for the Premier League top four next season.
So, in our opinion, the Gunners will need to sign at least one ‘elite’ striker.
