Arsenal midfielder Fabio Vieira has raved about his teammate and defender Cedric Soares in The Athletic.

Vieira joined Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal from FC Porto in the summer transfer window.

The Portugal Under-21 international midfielder is in pre-season training with the Gunners, and he has been really impressed by one Arsenal teammate.

Cedric Soares.

Vieira has said that his Portuguese compatriot helps him and the other Arsenal players a lot, and has spoken highly of him.

Fabio Vieira on Arsenal teammate Cedric Soares

The youngster told The Athletic about Cedric Soares: “He is a good professional; he tries to help everybody. It’s important. He’s older, he has experience — he won the European Championship with Portugal. He is a good person.”

Encouraging

In our view, Fabio Vieira’s comments on his Arsenal teammate Cedric Soares are very encouraging.

They underline just how important the Portugal international is behind the scenes and what a leader he is.

Now, of course, we know that the £75,000-a-week right-back (Spotrac) is a squad player at Arsenal.

The 30-year-old is behind Takehiro Tomiyasu in the pecking order at Arsenal and could make 16 starts in the Premier League last season due to injury issues of the Japan international.

However, Cedric will play his role for Arsenal next season.

Mikel Arteta’s side will be aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table as well as win the UEFA Europa League.

Cedric will get chances to play, and his importance to the team will show.
