West Ham United are still missing some of their key players.
Diafra Sakho
West Ham’s Head of Medical and Sports Science Stijn Vandenbroucke provided a positive update regarding the impending return to full fitness of Diafra Sakho, when writing his regular ‘Treatment Room’ column for the club’s official website.
The 27-year-old has played just twice for the Hammers this season, and has been out of action since November after suffering a serious back injury.
Slaven Bilic’s options in the forward department have been severely limited throughout the course of the season, and any kind of positive news regarding Sakho will surely be received with much relief by the Croatian.
And Vandenbroucke explained how the West Ham striker is now entering a critical stage of his rehab, as he closes in on his return to the first-team setup, when writing his regular column for WHUFC.com:

“We have good news regarding Diafra Sakho. Diafra is now entering a critical phase of his rehab as he steps up the intensity of the fitness work he is doing on the pitch. It is still difficult to say how long it will be until Diaf is ready to return to action, as this depends very much on how his body responds to the increasing level of physical work on the pitch.”
The East Londoners have managed to turn their season around over the past two months, and currently sit in ninth position in the Premier League table.
Had Sakho been fit and available for selection for the majority of this term though, who knows how many more points they could have taken.
If the Senegal international can return before the end of the season, however, it will be a major boost for Bilic and his players, as they look for a strong finish to their campaign.
