Liverpool will welcome Roma to Anfield for the first leg of the Champions League semi-final clash on Tuesday.

According to a report from Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato, Roma forward Grégoire Defrel has undergone knee surgery, and has subsequently been ruled out of his side’s Champions League clash with Liverpool on Tuesday.
The Frenchman has in fact been ruled out for the rest of the season, according to Calcio Mercato.
Whilst the 26-year-old has not been a regular starter for Eusebio Di Francesco’s side, he has still made 20 appearances in all competitions.

His absence for the remainder of the campaign will leave the onus very much on Edin Dzeko to perform, and at 32-years-old, that will be a big ask.
Liverpool fans will be extremely confident in their side’s chances of progressing through the the final of the Champions League, and with Defrel ruled out, Di Francesco’s options will be severely limited.

The Rome side will be fairly predictable to play against, and if Jürgen Klopp’s men show anything like the form they displayed against Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the competition, they will have every chance of beating the Italians over two legs.
Roma have shocked plenty of elite teams this season, though, so Liverpool should certainly not get too complacent.
