West Ham United and Everton are amongst a whole host of clubs reportedly keen on the Dynamo Kyiv defender.
Croatia’s Domagoj Vida
Both the Hammers and Toffees have received a boost in their reported pursuit of Croatian centre-back Domagoj Vida, after the Dynamo Kyiv man told Turkish football website Fotospor that he wants to play in either England or Spain, ruling out the possibility of joining Super Lig pair Fenerbahce or Besiktas.
The Mirror claimed last week that Everton and West Ham were tracking the 27-year-old international, with a view to making a summer bid for the player, whose contract expires in the summer of 2018.
The newspaper also claim that both Stoke City and Sunderland are keen on Vida.
And the 42-capped Croatia international gave a boost to all of the English clubs who have reportedly shown an interest in signing him, by telling Fotospor that he will not be making a move to Turkey, citing England and Spain as his preferred destinations:
“I have received offers, there are offers from Turkey, Spain and England. What I can say is that I do not currently want to play in Turkey but I will play in England or Spain. I will be playing in England or Spain next season.”
The Dynamo Kyiv defender has been with the Ukrainian outfit since January 2013, and has impressed with the consistency of his assured displays.
He is not the tallest, standing at just over 6ft, but he is extremely mobile, and technically apt with the ball at his feet.
Out of the clubs who are thought to be interest in signing Vida, the Hammers are the side arguably most in need of a player of Vida’s ilk, however, and Slaven Bilic should do everything within his power to bring him to the London Stadium this summer.
