Liverpool fans have expressed their delight on Twitter because David Coote has been dropped for their clash against Leicester City on Sunday, as posted by the Premier League’s official website.
As posted by the Liverpool Echo, Coote was set to take charge of VAR duties for the weekend game following his controversial display during that infamous Merseyside derby last month.
Despite having the luxury of technology, Coote somehow failed to see Jordan Pickford’s reckless challenge on Virgil van Dijk, which has potentially ended the Liverpool defender’s season.
But it seems there has been some form of u-turn on the decision and Coote will no longer take the reigns from Stockley Park.
And after Liverpool fans have had to endure injury after injury or positive COVID test after positive COVID test, they have now received some good news.
In truth, the right decision has been made because after Coote’s showing at Goodison, and given that it was very recent, he wasn’t exactly going to be met with open arms by those from Anfield even if he is hundreds of miles away.

Either way, Liverpool fans are pretty pleased with the call that has been made and the individual picked to replace Coote is Andre Marriner.
Here is a selection of Liverpool fans reacting to the news that Coote has been dropped:
