Earlier today, Antonio Conte spoke to the media ahead of the Premier League clash between Tottenham and Brighton on Saturday.
The Italian unfortunately revealed that Oliver Skipp is still yet to recover from injury, although he did have some “good news” to share.
What’s the story?
Well, Conte confirmed that Ryan Sessegnon and Sergio Reguilon are close to a return, after they rejoined the first-team squad for training at Hotspur Way.
As quoted by Football London, the 52-year-old said: “No new injuries, two good news because Ryan Sessegnon and Sergio Reguilon, they had the training session with us. About Oliver Skipp, we have to wait.”
In our view, that is more than just “good news” for Spurs.
Those who play as wing-backs at Tottenham are now among the most important, as Conte’s system relies heavily on the wide full-backs getting up and down.
For example, last time out against Newcastle, both Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal scored, having started in the wing-back positions.
Both defensively and offensively, Conte’s wing-backs make the system tick, so he will be mightily relieved to see both of his left-sided options return.
Tottenham need an upgrade on Ryan Sessegnon & Sergio Reguilon

In our view, Spurs need to upgrade on Sessegnon and Reguilon.
As good as the pair can be in flashes, there isn’t much consistency happening for either of them, which Conte cannot afford to allow.
As we’ve seen with the likes of Joao Cancelo and Andy Robertson, left-backs are hugely important in the modern game.

Therefore, Tottenham need an outstanding option like the ones Manchester City and Liverpool are blessed with, as it could take them up a level.
The same goes for the right wing-back department, although Matt Doherty has started to show flashes of consistently with two goals and three assists in his last six Premier League appearances.
Hopefully, Daniel Levy can give Conte what he needs this summer.
