Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz has wished Bruno Guimarães ‘good luck’ on Instagram ahead of his potential debut against Everton.
Before Newcastle and Villa lock horns on Sunday, the Magpies will welcome Everton to St James’ Park tonight, with Guimarães set to feature.
Ahead of that game, the Brazilian midfielder sent the following message to fans, added with a video where he is exchanging text messages with club legend, Alan Shearer.
It’s going to be interesting to see if Eddie Howe throws Guimarães straight into the starting XI because they did win their last Premier League outing at Leeds.
Whatever happens, he will either be an exciting option from the bench, or someone unpredictable for Everton to deal with from the off.
There will, no doubt, be 50,000+ Newcastle fans wanting to see him start because he was one of the club’s standout buys in January.
If he doesn’t start against the Toffees, then he may well do so against Villa and most notably Luiz.
Villa host relegation-threatened Leeds on Wednesday night and Newcastle will be hoping that the Midlands side do them a favour.
But it will stop there when Steven Gerrard travels to St James’ Park at the weekend hoping for Villa to do the double over the north east club.
When Villa beat the Magpies at the start of the season, both teams had different managers, with Dean Smith now at Norwich and Steve Bruce recently being appointed by Championship side, West Brom.
