Roy Hodgson is facing an uncertain future at Crystal Palace and Eddie Howe could be the man to replace him at Selhurst Park, Ray Parlour has told talkSPORT (9 February, 4.20pm).

How much longer will the oldest Premier League manager of all time keep defying the laws of Father Time?

At the age of 73, Hodgson is once again guiding Palace to a comfortable mid-table finish.

In fact, relegation has never really been a concern in the four years since the former England boss took the reigns in 2017 following the ill-fated Frank de Boer era.

But, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, Hodgson appears uncertain he will stick around for another campaign at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles have been looking to inject some youth into an ageing squad in recent months and it seems the same thinking could apply to their coaching staff.

The Daily Mail believes Sean Dyche, of Burnley, and former Bournemouth boss Howe are two of the names on Palace’s wish list if Hodgson opts to hang up his tactics board.

Howe has been out of work since Bournemouth were relegated from the Premier League last year and, according to Parlour, a lot depends on whether he feels the need for a fresh start away from the South Coast.

“Whether he is ready to get back in… he went up to Burnley and it didn’t work out. Whether he wants to be on that South Coast, I don’t know,” former Arsenal midfielder Parlour says.

“When you get an opportunity, you can’t pick and choose. Eddie would be decent. I’m sure Palace would look at Eddie and say ‘lets give him an opportunity’.

“We’re not saying Roy is going to be sacked but, if Palace want to move in a different direction, maybe Eddie would be a good choice.”

While Howe is unattached and available, Palace would have to pay a huge compensation fee to take Dyche away from Burnley.
