Paul Merson told Sky Sports that Sergio Aguero would be a ‘good choice’ for Arsenal ahead of his exit from Manchester City.
On Monday evening, Aguero and Man City shocked many by announcing on Twitter that one of their greatest ever players will leave when his contract expires in the summer.
Many Premier League teams, including Arsenal, will be glad to see the back of the deadly hitman, who is the highest foreign goalscorer in English football history.
But Merson suggested that the £38 million superstar (Guardian) would ‘suit’ Arsenal if he opted to stay in England, as he backed Mikel Arteta to reunite with the Argentina international.
“Will he stay in England or will his next move be abroad?” questioned Merson.
“If he stays in England, I think Arsenal would suit the style he would be looking for. They’d be a good choice.
“Mikel Arteta was at Manchester City and the way Arsenal play; they get around the box and they do create a lot of opportunities. Arsenal do tick that box for Aguero.”

That would be some statement from Arsenal if they were to secure Aguero’s signature because if he’s fit and available then he will put fear into many opposition teams.
If Aguero decides he can still cut it in the Premier League, and he wants to remain on these shores, then Arteta will be licking his lips.
The Spaniard will hold the advantage in terms of being able to personally contact Aguero to try and persuade him to move to the Emirates, but, from a more realistic standpoint, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Aguero join his best mate, Lionel Messi at Barcelona.
