Rangers have confirmed the signing of Curacao international Juninho Bacuna as Steven Gerrard makes his fourth signing of the summer.
Bacuna moves to Ibrox from Huddersfield Town and Rangers’ new number 22 joins Fashion Sakala, John Lundstrom and Nnamdi Ofoborh in joining the Scottish champions this summer.
The 24-year-old joined Huddersfield from Dutch side Groningen three years ago and made over 100 appearances for the Terriers, starting 83 games and scoring 12 times in England.
Bacuna was born in Groningen and represented the Netherlands up to under-21 before making the switch to Curacao and picking up 10 caps so far.
Rangers’ latest signing was in the stands at Ibrox to watch his new teammates in action as they took on Armenian side Alashkert in the Europa League playoff and could make his Gers debut this weekend away to Ross County.
Despite being primarily a central midfielder, Bacuna can play in a number of positions, including right-back and on either flank. He can also fill in as a striker or as a number 10.
His final competitive appearance for Huddersfield came on the final day of last season when he was a late substitute in the 2-2 draw with Reading.
That could mean his Rangers debut doesn’t come for a few weeks – although the prospect of making his bow in the upcoming Old Firm clash with Celtic is one that will surely excite the midfielder.
Rangers fans were delighted to see him arrive at Ibrox to strengthen the Gers’ title defence as they took to Twitter to welcome their new signing.
